The Redondo Beach City Council will review the final design for the waterfront revitalization project proposed by CenterCal, the city's selected developer on July 30th. The revitalization project will cost somewhere between $200M and $300M utilizing both private and public investments. The council will hear public testimony about the project, which calls for a seaside hotel, new restaurants, an opening up of the Seaside Lagoon to the ocean, a bridge over the harbor, a marketplace, open space and public art. Walmart will open one of the new Walmart Neighborhood Market scheduled to open this summer. They have opened the employment office, so now is them for you or possibly your teenager to apply for that summer job. (Or do kids still get summer jobs?) This store is hiring approximately sixty five full or part time jobs for many different shifts. Walmart is also accepting applications online. According to the the California Association of Realtors Los Angeles presently has a very tight real estate market. Stating that it is even tighter that the San Francisco market. An example of this is that in March, there was a 2.7-month supply of available houses in Los Angeles County and houses were only on the market for an average of 31.5 days. Statewide, inventory was down 36 percent from last year and the availability of homes priced below $300k plunged more than 50 percent from the previous year." Read More

The 54 room hotel project in Redondo is finally under way. The project has been in the works since 2008. Cleanup of the present site is scheduled to start next month and completion is scheduled for October 1, 2014. This will be Redondo's first major development project in 2 years and the city fathers are happy to see the project finally get off the sand, so to speak. Read More

Tips: #2-1 DRY OUT TOILET BOWL AND TANK: Before I have to do any work on a toilet, I use a wet vac to suck out all of the water from the toilet bowl and tank. No more messes. #2-2 ON RE-PLANTING GRASS SEED: Put a window screen over a spot in your lawn that you're reseeding and you won't have to worry about birds eating the seeds. #2-3 FIX A DRAIN CLOG: The plumber couldn't budge the clog in our upstairs bathtub drain, so he said we'd have to tear out the ceiling below in order to get at the pipe. But a contractor we know had another idea that made a lot more sense. He stuck the nozzle of a wet-dry vac into a roll of electrical tape to get a tight seal against the tub's drain, and covered the tub's overflow hole with a flexible rubber pad. Then he turned on the vacuum and, voilà: the clog was sucked out of the pipe, saving our ceiling—and our bank account. #2-4 NO MORE STUCK OUTDOOR LIGHT BULBS: Screw-in bulbs in outdoor fixtures can corrode and become stuck in their sockets over time and will often break when you try to twist them out. Rub Vaseline on the bulbs' threads before screwing them in and you'll never have a problem replacing the bulb when the time comes. Read More
