Congress Recognizes Local High School Art
Congressional Art Competition
The Congressional Art Competition is a national competition that recognizes and encourages artistic talent in high school students. Students submit their original art piece to their representative and a panel of art professionals select the winning entry. Winners are recognized both in their congressional district and at an annual awards ceremony in Washington D. C. The winning works are displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol. This competition is open to students in grades 9-12, that either attend school or reside in CA-Congressional District 33. The submission deadline for this year’s competition is April 14, 2017 at 5 pm. Art needs to be dropped off at our Wilshire or Manhattan Beach office location (if you have 10 or more entries, I can arrange for a member of my staff to pick up the art from your school prior to April 14, 2017).
CA-33 is home to some of the most gifted artist in the country and this event provides budding and established artist alike an opportunity to showcase with art and network with other artists, art professionals, and community members. Scholarships will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. Additionally, the 1st place winner will receive a trip to Washington D.C. to attend a reception (the flight will be provided by Southwest Airlines, lodging will be provided, and a travel stipend will be provided to the winner).
Students are encouraged to attend our reception, which takes place on Saturday, April 22, 2017, at the Wallis Annenberg Center for Performing Arts in Beverly Hills. At the reception, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place will be announced. Students that attend will be eligible to participate in a raffle of prizes. Educators are also invited to attend the reception.
