Neighborhood Spotlight: SouthEast Torrance
SouthEast Torrance, a mostly residential neighborhood in Torrance, has single family homes, condos, townhomes, mobile homes and apartment buildings to choose from. Many larger, newer homes were built in the early 2000’s, can be found here.
SouthEast Torrance, is bordered by Western Ave on the East and Crenshaw Bl on the West, South of Sepulveda Bl to the City of Lomita Border. Here is as street map showing the boundaries – Map of SouthEast Torrance
A well-known icon of the area is the Gazebo at Sur La Brea Park on Cabrillo Ave. Many birthday parties have been celebrated there. It also includes a basketball court, playground, tennis courts, meeting room and a .31 walk/run/exercise course.
Those who live here remember when JH Hull Middle School was torn down and emptied in 2007. It is now the newest City of Torrance School with the most technology wired campus. It re-opened for students in September 2011. On Saturday mornings, you will see children playing soccer, while others are walking the track.
Along with Sur La Brea Park and JH Hull Middle School, you will find along Arlington Ave, SouthEast Torrance Library. The library offers a summer reading program, a paperbook lending library and a storytime for our younger children. A great place to get homework done!
SouthEast Torrance has 2 Elementary schools – Howard Wood Elementary, West of Arlington Ave on 235th St and John Adams Elementary, East of Arlington Ave on 238th St. Wood Elementary offers an after-school program and Adams Elementary also includes a 1/2 day Pre-school program.
SouthEast Torrance is close to shopping at the Torrance Crossroads, Rolling Hills Plaza and the Torrance Towne Center. Easy access to both the 110 & 405 Freeways
