Plan Your Spring Break Trip to Torrance, California with This Guide
Spring break is right around the corner, and with so many fun destination options it can be challenging to narrow down where you’ll spend the week. The key with most trips is to choose a spot that’s near lots of shopping and attractions but isn’t overwhelmed with tourists, and Torrance, California is a perfect example.
Located just 40 minutes away from Los Angeles, Torrance offers a beautiful beach and lots of scenic outdoor areas for recreation. It has a more low-key, laid-back vibe than bustling L.A. but is close enough to make a day trip if you want to check out all the Hollywood spots. If you’d like to learn more about the area, there are plenty of resources available through Carol Gilles. Here’s a brief list of some of the best things to do during your visit:
1. See a Dodgers game
If you’re a sports fan, vacationing so close to L.A. means you have to see a Dodgers game while you’re there. You can use an online ticket
manager to plan your outing, filtering the available seats by date to make sure you’re able to see the game you’re most interested in. LA Dodgers, here we go!
2. Go for a drive
If you’d rather see some famous sights on your trip, consider renting a convertible and driving through the hills of Hollywood. There’s plenty to see, including the homes of the stars, and you can take a detour and head to Beverly Hills for some shopping and lunch. Map out some scenic routes in the area and download an app that will help you navigate traffic and avoid issues.
3. Soak up some culture
Looking to stay local and have a more laid-back day? Check out the California Museum of Fine Art or the Torrance Historical Society. The former is both a museum and a gallery that showcases talented international artists, while the latter is a wonderful resource for history lovers that even offers walking tours of the city.
4. Find some treasures
Merge your love of history with your love of shopping and head to the Torrance Antique Street Faire, which occurs on
various dates year-round and is filled with vendors offering tons of vintage and antique items. Whether you’re a serious collector or just want to find some unique souvenirs, this is the place to go.
5. Grab a bite
Looking for something a little newer? Head to the Torrance Promenade for a nice variety of stores, then grab a bite to eat at one of the many restaurants nearby. Not only is this a great destination for a night out, it offers gorgeous views of the city that will help keep the spring break vibe while you do your shopping or have dinner.
6. Get a different view
If you love the city views but want a change of perspective, consider taking a helicopter tour over L.A. and the surrounding areas. There are several options available depending on how many spots you want to see and the number of people who want to take the trip, but book early to make sure you can get the day and time that works best for your group.
Spring break trips are best when they’re well-planned, so give yourself some time to work out the details and make arrangements. You can also look for deals where your travel costs and accommodations are concerned; do some research online well in advance to secure the best hotel or rental.
