Well it looks like after years of delay and controversy, the 700-unit plan for Ponte Vista in San Pedro was approved at a public hearing on Dec 17th. This area is the past home of former Navy housing on Western Ave. A hearing with the full Los Angeles City Council... Read More
According to Donna Littlejohn of the Daily Breeze there is once again a stall on the development Ponte Vista. Ponte Vista means "Bridge View, And acknowledges the view of the Vincent Thomas Bridge in the horizon. The project was first proposed eight years ago to solve the problem of what to do with the large parcel of land. It's been eight years since developer Bob Bisno first proposed the project he named Ponte Vista - which means "Bridge View" and pays homage to the Vincent Thomas Bridge that can be seen on the horizon from the hilltop. The project originally was a 2300 home planned community. Now it just keeps shrinking. It is amazing that the city of Los Angles has such a difficult time approving development plans for an abandoned 62 +acres of prime San Pedro real estate . This property was once housing for Navy families. You would think they would be delighted with the improvement to the harbor town. And where else in Los Angeles can you find that many acres of prime real estate for development. Read More

Here are some surprising ways to save energy around your South Bay home: 1 If you place lamps in the corners of your rooms, the walls help to reflect light out into the room. 2 Use a laptop computer instead of a desktop. A laptop uses 1/3 less energy. 3 Dont switch to a plasma flat screen it uses much more energy than an LCD. 4 Put a blanket on your water heater and turn down the temperature a little. A water heater blanket can save anywhere from 4% to almost 10% on the average water heating bill. 5 Using an electric stove? Turn off the burner before your finished cooking as the burner stays hot for awhile after you shut it off. 6 Spin laundry more. Let your washer spin the water out of the laundry, even if you have to spin it twice, it will save energy use in the dryer. Some new washers can cut energy in half by eliminating the time required for the dryer to run. 7 Shut off your refrigerators ice maker and use an ice tray or two. A refrigerator ice maker increases your energy consumption up to 20%. When you use ice trays, there is no increase in energy use or costs. 8 Use your dishwasher, it uses 1/3 of the hot water that you would use if you washed your dishes by hand. Read More
One of my favorite places to visit and to go to some great restaurants is the little community of San Pedro sitting on the eastern slopes of the Palos Verdes Peninsula. This is a great community with beautiful single family homes, some large estate type properties, condos, town homes and some smaller and older type cottages. Many of these homes are overlooking the harbor and beyond. The neighborhoods are clean and family oriented with parks and good schools. The downtown area offers a diverse selection of shopping options, dining and entertainment. This is an old and historic town with beautiful cliffs along the ocean, sparse beaches and and wonderful vistas. Real estate in San Pedro is among some of the best buys taking into consideration the gentle hills and views that overlook the ocean and the harbor. Prices here will range anywhere from around $200,000 and go up to around $2M, depending on type of home, size, age and location. San Pedro has homes, condos and town homes that are priced cheaper than any other city in area that is located on the Pacific Ocean. The atmosphere in San Pedro is wonderful. Read More
