The Making of the Torrance Rose Float for 2016
The Making of the Torrance Rose Float for 2016
On Monday, December 28, I had the opportunity to lead a group of City of Torrance employees and officials to The Making of the Torrance Rose Float for 2016 in Irwindale, Ca at the Fiesta Floats barn.
This is the Torrance Rose Float Association’s 61st entry in the Rose Parade. The theme of the 2016 Rose parade is “Find your Adventure”. This is the 127th Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade. The Torrance Rose Float 2016 is celebrating our wonderful Torrance Fire Dept with “A Purr-Fectly Paw-Ful Adventure”.
The making of the Torrance Rose Float for 2016 starts in right after Thanksgiving with 2 dry cutting days. The actual “touch the float” days start the day after Christmas. Many wonderful volunteers help to decorate our float.
From the dry flowers, to the seeds, to those high on the scaffolding …
The fire truck is covered in whole red carnations, yellow strawflower confetti, black onion seed with silverleaf and eucalyptus leaves to simulate chrome. Delphinum, the City of Torrance “official” flower is featured.
The Roses are the finishing touches for The Making of the Torrance Rose Float for 2016.
